About the Author

Jim Corbett (1875–1955) was a British hunter, tracker, naturalist, and author who held a colonel's rank in the British Indian Army. He was frequently called upon by the government of the United Provinces, even after he retired, to hunt man-eating tigers and leopards in India. His books, including 'Man-Eaters of Kumaon', 'The Man-Eating Leopard of Rudraprayag', and 'My India', recount his hunting experiences and observations of nature and village life. Corbett was also a passionate conservationist, playing a pivotal role in establishing India's first national park, now known as Jim Corbett National Park.
