We have some great titles on the shelves already. This page is for the ones that are not listed on our website. If a book was never distributed in Nepal, went out of print before you found it, or only exists as a university press edition on the other side of the world, name it. We work with publishers and distributors abroad.

What happens after you ask
Four to eight weeks from the day you pay, most of the time. Here is where that number comes from, and which parts of it are ours rather than the shipping line's.
Every duration here is an estimate. Customs clearance, distributor lead times and the shipping line are outside our control, and any of them can add time. We tell you as soon as we know.

Import orders are paid in full up front, because the copy is bought for you alone. We place the order with the distributor the same day your payment reaches us.

It ships to Kathmandu and clears customs. Your order is on our system from the day you pay and our staff check every book in when it lands, so there is nothing for you to chase. We message you the day it reaches Thamel.
No fee to make a request, no deposit to hold one. We find the book, we tell you the price, and you decide.

If a publisher is still printing it, we can reach it. This is most of what we are asked for and it is the straightforward case: we find a distributor holding stock, quote you the landed price, and it ships.

Not sold in Nepal yet
A new release that simply has not been distributed here is one of the easiest things to get. It is in print, it is in stock somewhere, and nobody has imported it. This one often beats the four to eight weeks.

Academic or reference
University press titles, monographs, reference sets and multi volume series. These frequently never reach Nepal at all, which is why people ask for them. Expect the upper end of the price: academic print runs are small.

French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Hindi, Chinese and more. We source from the publisher's own market rather than substituting an English reprint, so you get the edition you actually asked for.

This is the second hand trade rather than a distributor, so the answer depends on what exists in the world that week. We tell you the condition plainly, with the seller's photographs where there are any, before you decide. Sometimes it takes a fortnight. Sometimes there is nothing to find.

Findable, and the price moves a great deal: the same title can be modest or many times that depending on the printing and whose signature is in it. Tell us your ceiling and we will only come back to you if we can meet it.
Before you ask
How is the price worked out?
We quote the full landed price of the book: the book itself, the international shipping and everything it costs to bring it into Nepal. There is no separate customs bill waiting for you at the end. The one thing the quote does not include is courier delivery inside Nepal, which our courier charges at the time of handover and runs from about NPR 120 to NPR 240 depending on where you are. See the delivery rates. Collecting from our shop in Thamel is always free.
What if you cannot find it?
We message you as soon as we have real availability, so no news is not the same as no answer yet. If nothing has reached you within two weeks, take it that the title could not be found: out of print, never distributed, or out of stock with every distributor we buy from. The request ends there at no cost. You are welcome to ask again in a month or two, because stock does come back and reprints do happen. We get a large number of requests, so we answer the ones where at least one title on the list can actually be found first.
Can I request more than one book?
Yes. Add as many as you like to a single request and we quote them together, which usually costs less to ship than the same books requested separately. They can be different publishers and different countries.
A book on your site is out of stock. Should I request it here?
Usually no. Out of stock means we already carry that title and it is due to be restocked, so the fastest route is the reminder on its own product page: press Notify me when available and we message you the moment it is back. That is days or weeks, not an import. If you need it by a particular date, call the shop on 9846525426 first: we will tell you whether that restock will land in time for you, or whether the title is not coming back at all. If the answer is no on either count, this form is the right place.
Why do I have to pay first?
Because these are special import orders. The copy is bought from a distributor abroad specifically for you, in the quantity you asked for, and only after you have approved the quote, so there is nothing to put back on a shelf if you change your mind afterwards. That is why payment is in full up front and why a paid request cannot be cancelled. The risk that is left is ours rather than yours: see the next answer.
What if it arrives damaged, or never arrives?
You get all of your money back. A full refund, no conditions and no deductions, whether the book was damaged in transit or never reached us at all. Send us a photograph if it arrived damaged and we start the refund from there. If you would rather have the book than the money, tell us and we will go back to the distributor and try again, but that is your choice and the refund is always on the table. If nothing has reached our shop within 12 weeks of your payment, the same full refund applies whatever the reason.

What happens after I pay?
Your order goes on our system that day and the order goes to the distributor the same day. Our staff check every book in when the shipment lands, so you do not need to chase anything or keep asking where it is. We message you the day your book reaches our Thamel shop, and it waits there for you for 30 days.
