About the Author

Imre Kertesz (1929-2016) was a Hungarian author, Holocaust survivor, and recipient of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Literature. His work primarily explored themes of the Holocaust, totalitarianism, and individual identity in the face of extreme circumstances. Kertesz was deported to Auschwitz at the age of 14 and later to Buchenwald, experiences that profoundly shaped his literary output. His most famous novel, "Fatelessness," is a semi-autobiographical account of a young man's survival in concentration camps.
