By the Sea

Saleh Omar lands at Gatwick from Zanzibar on a late November afternoon, carrying incense in a mahogany box. Once the owner of a furniture shop, a house and a family, he now seeks asylum and relies on silence. Latif Mahmud, closely bound to Saleh's past, lives quietly by himself in a London flat. Their meeting in an English seaside town opens up an old story of seduction, possession, love and betrayal, and of people trying to find stability in turbulent times.
