Description

Even after composing the epic Mahabharata, Maharishi Vyasa finds no peace. Narada Muni advises him to describe the Lord himself, as ordinary men will delight in his work, but the Sages of heaven and earth seek more. Thus, Veda Vyasa creates the Bhagavata Purana, consisting of eighteen thousand slokas and twelve kandas. He imparts this knowledge to his enlightened son Suka, who narrates it to King Parikshit, Yudhishtira’s heir, on the banks of the Ganga. The Bhagavata Purana is a living embodiment of Lord Narayana, promising moksha simply by being heard. Before Krishna, the Avatara, departs from the world, Uddhava requests a tangible form to connect with him. Krishna enters the Bhagavata Purana completely, offering a full literary rendering that brings the wonder, wisdom, and grace of the Book of God to the modern reader.
