About the Author
Elizabeth Bowen (1899-1973) was an Anglo-Irish novelist and short story writer renowned for her elegant prose and psychological depth. Born in Dublin, she spent much of her life in England, where she became a prominent figure in the literary world. Her works often explored themes of innocence, experience, and the lingering effects of the past, set against the backdrop of decaying country houses and wartime London. Bowen was a recipient of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and was appointed a CBE in 1948.
