In 1974 Alaska, the Allbright family seeks a fresh start off the grid. Former POW Ernt, grappling with the trauma of Vietnam, impulsively moves his wife Cora and thirteen-year-old daughter Leni to the remote wilderness. Initially, the independent community and the wild beauty offer hope, but as winter descends, Ernt's fragile mental state deteriorates. The family's dream of self-sufficiency devolves into a desperate struggle for survival, not only against the unforgiving environment but also against the increasing threats from within their isolated cabin.
