Letters from Everest gathers personal letters that George Mallory wrote to his family, published here for the first time. On 8 June 1924, Mallory and Sandy Irvine were seen through a telescope on the upper slopes of Mount Everest, and were never seen alive again. His body was found in 1999 below the ridge where he was last seen. In these letters Mallory writes openly about his life, his climbing, the people and places he knew, and the Everest expeditions of 1921, 1922 and 1924. His great-nephew collected them.
