The last remnants of the human race leave a dying Earth to look for a new home among the stars. They find a world terraformed and prepared for human life. But the planet is not pristine or empty. In the long years since it was abandoned, the work of those who designed it has brought disastrous results, and new masters have made it a terrible place for humanity. Two civilizations are now on a collision course, each testing what it will do to survive, while the fate of humanity hangs in the balance and the true heirs of this new Earth remain unclear.
