Descripción

Philosopher Julian Baggini examines how eating shapes how we live. He looks at vastly different ways people grow, prepare, and eat food, from the hunter-gatherer Hadza in Tanzania to Western societies with intensive food production. Most people now depend on a complex global food web facing unprecedented challenges. Baggini explores food practices past and present, including new technologies, ethics, health, governance, waste, and commodification. He seeks essential principles for a pluralistic, humane, resourceful, and equitable food philosophy for the twenty-first century and beyond.

Why You Should Read?

  • Explore how different societies grow, prepare, and eat food across the world.
  • Meet the hunter-gatherer Hadza in Tanzania and learn about their threatened sustainable lifestyle.
  • Delve into new farming methods, cultured meat, GM, and astronaut food from its exploration.
  • Learn about food governance, food wastage, commodification, and the ethics of ultra processed food.
