This book presents the short teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi on the nature of the Self and the practice of Self-Inquiry. T.M.P. Mahadevan is the translator. The book opens with the observation that all living beings want happiness without misery, and that supreme love for oneself is seen in everyone, with happiness as the cause of love. According to the book, because happiness is one’s nature and is experienced in deep sleep, where there is no mind, one should know oneself. The principal means it gives is the Path of Knowledge, the enquiry "Who am I?"
