Mother Mary Comes to Me is Arundhati Roy's first work of memoir. It gives a close and uplifting account of how she grew into the writer and the person she is. Circumstance played a part, but above all her tangled relationship with her mother Mary did, a woman she calls her shelter and her storm. The book speaks up for freedom and honours a love full of thorns, alongside a fierce and untamed grace. It is a memoir of one life, told with feeling.
