The End of the Myth: From the Frontier to the Border Wall in the Mind of America

Greg Grandin's "The End of the Myth" examines how the concept of an open frontier shaped American identity and its self-perception as an exceptional nation. He argues that this constant expansion historically deflected domestic issues like racism and inequality. The book then traces how the closing of this "frontier" through recent crises has fueled the rise of modern political polarization and nationalist populism, symbolizing a profound shift in American identity.
