About the Author

John Buchan (1875–1940) was a Scottish novelist, historian, and Unionist politician who served as Governor General of Canada. He is best known for his adventure stories, particularly those featuring the character Richard Hannay, including The 39 Steps. Buchan's works often explore themes of espionage, adventure, and the British Empire. He was also a prolific writer of non-fiction, including biographies and historical works.
Stella Rimington is a British author and former Director General of MI5, the UK's domestic security service. She was the first woman to hold the post and the first Director General to be publicly named. After leaving MI5, she embarked on a successful career as a novelist, drawing on her extensive experience in intelligence to write a series of acclaimed spy thrillers.
