Selected Poems: Samuel Beckett

This book is a selection of Samuel Beckett's poems, from Whoroscope in 1930 to what is the word in 1988. It follows a lifetime of writing and presents work in both languages. The collection includes the brief mirlitonnades, a sequence that helped shape the style of his late prose. The poems come close to honouring the ambition to bore through language so that what lies behind it, whether something or nothing, may seep out. An introduction and notes accompany the poems. The book shows the arc of a poet's work from early to late writing.
